Learning Magellans

My favorite characterization of a learner has always been in the form of an explorer.  Explorers are self-directed and motivated, take risks, yearn for discovery, and are fueled by the unknown.  They seek to make sense of the world for themselves and then for others.  From an early age my greatest motivation to learn has come from myself and the natural world that surrounds me.  Nothing feels more satisfying to me than to pose a question and then to dive deep and get lost in it’s many answers.  Furthermore I believe curiosity is a natural gift that inspires and motivates when students are given the space and freedom to hear its whispers.
